Every parent strives to provide the best environment for their children so they grow up to become educated, intelligent adults. The things you teach your children at a very young age have the most impact on their learning abilities for the rest of their lives.
In addition to letting your children play outside, read and socialize with other children, there are many things you can do to help your children develop the skills they need to execute simple actions (like hand-eye coordination and motor skills).
Puzzles are a great way to stimulate a childs brain and help develop some of the most important skills theyll need for the future not to mention, theyre a lot of fun.
Below, weve listed 3 reasons why every parent should teach their children how to complete puzzles.
1.Hand-Eye Coordination. As we mentioned briefly above, many puzzles aid in developing a childs hand eye coordination. Its very difficult for a young child to pick up a piece of a puzzle, turn it in the proper direction and place it where it belongs in the puzzle. The more they practice, the more it becomes second nature to them and, before you know it, your childs hand-eye coordination is functioning fully. Start with shape puzzles (the ones where the child has to put the shapes into the corresponding holes) at a very young age and work your way up to harder levels as they progress.
2.Problem Solving Skills. Puzzles are a great way to teach children how to overcome problems. Many children become frustrated when trying to complete puzzles but the more they do them, the less frustrated they become. The child begins to realize the importance of working through their difficulties and learns how to cope with frustration. When theyve completed the puzzle, theyll be happy and will likely want to try another. This is an invaluable lesson to children.
3.Memory Skills. Puzzles are a proven method of stimulating a childs memory. There are many types of puzzles designed specifically to help develop a childs memory. If you cant find the right type of puzzle at the store, there are simple ways to teach your children how to remember. Grab a deck of cards and sort through them until you find 5 pairs. Flip the 10 cards over and ask your child to pick up the cards one at a time to try and find a pair. If they flip over two cards and that dont match, they must flip the cards facedown and try again. This will help immensely when it comes to your childs memory skills. As it becomes easier, keep adding more cards to make it difficult and keep them challenged.
Puzzles are an easy, fun and affordable way to keep your children occupied and learning at the same time. We hope you enjoy the information weve provided!
Jollibee is very popular among Filipino children. This famous bee is seen all over the country showing its friendly smile to children. Advertisements on television showing this Bee surely catch the attention of kids. It is always a wonder why kids love this red and smiling bee so much.
One of the things that Filipino kids love about Jollibee is the menu that they offer. Jollibee Food Corporation has come up with foods that kids would surely like. Their sweet style Spaghetti, Yum Burger, Chicken Joy and Fries fit the childrens tastes. They even offer Kiddie Meals with toys. Varieties of desserts are also available like ice cream sundae of different flavors, ice craze, zert pies and crunchy twirl.
Aside from its tasty menu, it can also be said that the environment of almost all its stores is very friendly. As soon as someone steps inside the store, the crew would start smiling and greeting. Children, together with their parents, would immediately go to Jollibees statue to take pictures. The comfortable atmosphere is enough reason for the people to visit often.
Jollibee Food Corporation also offers party packages. Most kids choose Jollibee as their birthday party venue because of the exciting activities that await them. Kids are also eager to see the famous mascots that would entertain them like Hetty, Yum, Twirlie, Popo and of course Jollibee.
An opportunity to help the less privileged is also provided by Jollibee Food Corporation. Through the program Ma-Aga Ang Pasko sa Jollibee, kids can donate new or old toys that will be given to kids in an orphanage or in depressed areas. This program teaches kids how to share and learn the value of giving without expecting anything in return. Jollibee has also made a TV program called Jollitown that shows different stories with good Filipino values to learn from. Action songs are also included in this program.
Over the years, Jollibee has become a childs bestfriend. It is not just another fast food chain to any kid but a place where they can learn and have fun. Most Filipino families have also spent some of their celebrated occasions here thus making it a part of their good memories. It is a place where every Filipino feels at home.
Remember that you were a kid once and that its never easy trying to adjust to new things like a different school, a new home, etc, so its always important that youre supportive if your child seems hesitant to adjust. Good parents are supportive parents willing to communicate. Parents who ignore and/or force the adjustment are in danger of losing their childs respect.
Although it can be difficult, try not to discipline your child when you are angry. When you are emotionally charged, you might not be able to discipline your child fairly, and you might risk saying hurtful things to him that you might regret later. Give yourself a few moments to cool off before talking to your child.
Get your kids in the kitchen. Asking them to help, even in small ways, with meal time will get them more interested in the meal youre preparing. Theyre likely to eat better if they are more interested. In addition, it keeps your children from becoming bored while youre trying to cook.
When training your child to use the potty, buy them underwear with their favorite cartoon character on it. Children always do better with encouragement. By letting them wear these kind of underwear, they will feel better about using the potty because they do not want to have an accident in their “special” underwear.
It is important to make sure that your child is not watching too much violence on television. Children learn by what they see and if they see too much violence it could make them think that it is acceptable or lose a sense of what is real violence and what is not.
To instill the value of social graces in your toddler, start early. Encourage him to wave hello and goodbye and to actually say hello and goodbye once he is able to speak. Also lead by example and greet your spouse, family, and friends with a cheerful greeting upon seeing them.

The drawing of kids demands freshness and directness of purpose. Unfortunately, there are not too many quick and ready rules. Let us just say that kids’ portraits demand a sharp and patient eye.
For those who intend to do commercial portraiture the good news is that kids’ portraits can be rewarding. There are very few draftspersons who can competently render kids.
Soft lighting works best for portraits of kids. The child could be looking toward a intense light source. This sort of light source will illuminate the child’s face and create an introspective facial appearance. The tone range goes from light to medium with the eyes really dark.
Addressing the facial proportions of kids in a general sense is somewhat of a waste of time. Their facial proportions change dramatically within a time span of six month.
Suffice it to say that the younger the child is the smaller the face in relation to the skull. The eyes also appear larger although this can be deceiving. A child’s nose can be very difficult to render – there is nothing really to latch onto. And the mouth is very about the width of an eye. Again, we must stress that these proportions are only a broad rule and individual face proportions can be different. The above broad rules can be made use of for comparison purposes when you do your own careful observations of a particular face.
As always, start your rendering by striking the arabesque and then correcting the height/width proportions as necessary.
After establishing the primary facial proportions (i.e., the brow, nose, mouth, etc.) block-in the major light/dark patterns. Then, stump down the graphite using your fingers or a stump. To render and re-shape the lights employ a clean putty eraser.
Now the features are carefully placed, measured and partially rendered. There are two things to remember here:
1. Your pencils must be real sharp, and
2. At this stage, you should never fully complete a feature. Render each feature no more than 50%.
As soon as the features are sized and placed as best you can, you can now further develop them. Do not neglect the hair and sides of the face. Everything should be advanced together. As you continue to render you should always be on the lookout for mistakes in proportions and tone.
In closing, the fundamental procedures made use of to render a child’s portrait are of course always the same. Above, we listed most of the differences in size and shape between an adult skull and that of a child. Your frame of mind when drawing a child should be one that reflects the innocence and the softness of a child.
Although India is known to be a culturally diverse country, there are many issues which have not yet reached a resolution. Some of these include poverty and illiteracy, two of the main causes for many other plaguing issues. As a result of these two problems, many young and innocent children suffer. They are not only denied the warmth and love every child deserves but also grow up with the impression that they did not deserve the right to be treated like a human being.
They grow up in fear and are in no position to defend themselves as a result of their economic plight. Furthermore, their parents are not even financially equipped to send them to schools to receive a basic education. They are forced into labour and their growth is hampered for the rest of their lives. They perform menial jobs, often involving long hours only to be rewarded with very meagre amounts of compensation. These children are given no freedom of their own and their fundamental rights of survival literally become non-existent. They are deprived of a basic education and the bare requirements of a healthy childhood.
Child Rights are those inherent rights which are guaranteed to every human being regardless to his caste, creed, sex, status of colour. It ensures equality of opportunity and covers multiple needs and issues of the child. It is through the Indian Constitution that many rights of a child are guaranteed. Some of the basic rights of children include; the right to education, expression, information, nutrition, health and care, protection from abuse, protection from exploitation, from neglect, to development, recreation, name and nationality and survival.
In India, however many of these children are denied their basic rights. This is often because of the economic plight that they are in and the inability to help themselves. One of the root factors for this is poverty. It is because they are born into poverty that they do not have the knowledge or ability to proclaim these rights. The parents, too who are struggling cannot raise this issue as the demands for survival are very high for them.
This leads to unhappy childhoods and lives filled with misery where their lives are aimed at helping their parents bring money back home or to find a meagre meal to survive. Furthermore, they are exploited and abused at all levels.
Many non-profits are continuously fighting to protect their rights through various programs and interventions. Through various donations and other schemes, the lives of many youngsters who have been denied their rights are benefitting. These organisations in turn collaborate with the Government at different levels to help protect youngsters from any form of exploitation. However, laws and practices can only become beneficial once the entire community work together towards this issue.
Sitting down and reading to your child is one of the best ways to ensure a lifelong reader. Long before your child learns how to read, he can still benefit greatly from sitting down with a parent and listening to his favorite books. By listening to the words and looking at the text and pictures on the page, your child is increasing his vocabulary in preparation for talking and reading at a more advanced level. Your child is also following along as you point to words on the page, and he starts to associate the written word with specific meanings. In addition, reading together is an easy, effective way to bond. Children will love the time they get to spend with you and will love the stories that you read to them.
During a typical busy day, it can be hard to know how much reading time is sufficient, how much is too little and how much is ideal. The answer depends on your child’s personality and your usual schedule. When your child is a toddler, you should ideally read together at least once a day. Read for as long as your child seems interested and engaged or as long as your schedule allows.
If your child tends to grow restless, try shorter reading periods two or three times a day. Ten minutes is usually a good length for younger children. Whenever your toddler brings you her favorite book, if possible, you should sit down and read together. As your child grows older and starts to learn how to read, try to stick to a once-daily reading schedule. Eventually, your child may even beg you to read every day!
Older children should have longer attention spans, so you can read for longer periods of time. You can even keep reading to your child after she learns how to read, especially by focusing on books above her reading level. As long as you continue to challenge them, children will improve their reading ability.
By reading as often as possible, you are illustrating the importance and fun of reading and encouraging your child to take the time to become a strong, competent reader. Eventually, the children will take to reading on their own and you will no longer have to read to them. This does not mean an end to reading as a bonding activity. You can read different books at the same time; you can read the same book independently and discuss the story as you go. You can suggest new books to each other as well. Instilling your child with a love of reading can be a lifelong bond that you can both cherish.
So in summary, you should read to your child as often as they possible and for as long as it holds their attention. By demonstrating how important reading is to you and for success in life, your children will learn to respect and enjoy reading.
As a child care center owner or manager, part of your job is to reassure parents that their children are safe in your care. One component of this is making sure that your child care cribs are safe for children to use. Follow this checklist when you inspect your child care cribs.
1.Crib slat width: The space between crib slats must be no greater than 2 3/8 inches apart. This prevents infants from getting their head stuck between the slats.
2.Crib slat integrity: To avoid injury, ensure that there are no slats are missing, loose or cracked.
3.Mattress quality: Child care cribs must have mattresses that fit snugly within the crib. No more than two finger-widths should remain between the edge of the mattress and the crib side. In addition, mattress support should be securely attached to the headboard and footboard.
4.Crib top rails: The top rails of crib sides, in their raised position, should be at least 26 inches above the top of the mattress support at its lowest position.
5.Hardware: Check your child care cribs to make sure that there arent any missing, loose, broken, or improperly installed screws, brackets or other hardware on the crib or mattress support.
6.Headboard and footboard: No cutouts should be in the headboard or footboard to ensure a babys head cant get trapped.
7.Corner posts: Corner posts of your child care cribs should be no higher than 1/16 inch so that a babys clothes cant catch.
8.Remove all toys: When the child is sleeping, make sure to remove all crib toys, which includes any mobiles that the baby could grab.
9.Crib placement: Do not place the crib next to a window, or close to curtains and drapery cords. In addition, dont place the crib next to furniture that could help the child crawl or climb out of the crib.
In addition to this checklist, make sure that your crib is assembled correctly and that screws and bolts are always tight. The safe assembly and upkeep of your child care cribs can ensure that children at your child care center are always safe. In addition, safe cribs can help keep your child care center in business.
Kids room decorating are an opportunity waiting to come to life! No where else can you mix and match a variety of paint schemes along with creative stencils, stickers, sparkles and get away with it. Best of all, your kids can be involved in transforming their room into their own accomplishments while redecorating at the same time.
Some creative ideas on decorating kids bedrooms:
Furniture – Make a whole play area from an ordinary bookcase. Choose bright colors that match your child style and add features such as cutout doors for a doll house or castle effect. Add texture materials to one or two compartments that create a window or door like feature. When your child has out-grown the design, you can easily remove the materials and doors and replace them with the original materials that you saved. Other ideas can be used with Lego or large building blocks to create more designs to match your childs age.
Walls – Turn your kids walls in a big canvas. Paint is the perfect solution and least expensive way to create a kaleidoscope impact while offering unlimited color options. Just changing one wall or adding stripes, borders, sponge or stamping techniques can bring new life to an ordinary room. Use wavy or splat design patterns, or turn one wall into a mural effect. Choose a bright base and pick accent colors to achieve the best effects.
Ceiling – Create a magical night sky on your childs ceiling with glow in the dark decorations. These can be fun and even comforting for your child to be able to lie in bed and gaze up at the night stars
Doors – Use wooden letters that spell your childs name and glue them on the door. Painting them in the theme color of your child room will dress up the door nicely. Closet door hardware can be replaced with wiggly handles or their favorite cartoon character. By matching the door hardware with wall plates you can carry the pattern through out the room that accents their style.
Shelves – Using shelving materials can be the least expensive way to pick up the clutter and organize a room. Painting with the same colors or add design features with stencil or stamping can quickly dress up any room. Different shelve designs can also be used to border a window that eliminate the need for expensive window treatments.
Accessories – Large cork boards can quickly turn a bare wall into a busy space. Cork boards also eliminate holes in walls from nails or tacks that later need to be repaired. Wooden picture frames can be painted to help accent the room. Fans blades can be reversed and painted with designs to add cool effects when in use and then can be reversed when it comes time to re-decorate.
Decorating your kids bedroom is a great way to give them a place they can call their own and you may just find your kid spending more time in there!
The Government announced earlier this month that the number of children with a Child Trust Fund has reached over 3 million. However, The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Kitty Ussher, also highlighted that only three-quarters of parents have actively opened their Child Trust Fund accounts.
This means that for the seven-hundred and fifty-thousand children whose parents did not open the Child Trust Fund themselves, the opportunity to gain one year’s worth of interest is lost.
